Traditional Japanese Matcha Preparation (Usucha Style)
What You Need:
- 1 tsp ceremonial-grade matcha
- 2 oz hot water (around 175°F / 80°C)
- A chawan (matcha bowl)
- A chasen (bamboo whisk)
- A sifter (optional but recommended)
Instructions:
- Sift your matcha into the chawan to avoid clumps.
- Pour in hot water.
- Using the chasen, whisk in a "W" or "M" motion quickly until frothy and smooth (about 15–30 seconds).
- Drink directly from the bowl, slowly and mindfully.
No milk, no sugar — just pure matcha.
